The National Board of Revenue (NBR) today launched a month-long programme to extend tax services and facilitate taxpayers return submissions as part of its efforts to encourage e-return filing.
Instead of holding an income tax fair as in previous years, the tax authority will provide tax services throughout November in all tax zones.
NBR Chairman Md Abdur Rahman Khan inaugurated the event at NBR headquarters in Dhaka’s Agargaon.
“We have already made it mandatory for government employees and multinational firms in specific areas to file e-returns. Additionally, we have arrangements in place for other taxpayers as well,” he said.
The comprehensive tax service delivery programme aims to foster a tax culture, increase tax awareness, and gain the trust and confidence of respected taxpayers, he added.
Taxpayers can file their personal income tax returns for the 2024-25 tax year in their designated tax zones throughout the month.
A total of 869 circles in 41 tax zones across the country will accept income tax returns uninterruptedly during office hours until the end of the month, according to the statement.
